Position Overview :

The primary role of this position is to ensure the successful integration and test of products by developing validation protocols and test procedures. The position will also assess the reliability of produ cts and participate in investigations of product problems. He/She will be working in a fast-paced, startup environment, interacting with scientists and engineers from a variety of backgrounds.



Pri mary Responsibilities:

W ork closely the desi gn engineeri ng group, m anufacturing , and quality assurance to d evelop verification and validation protocols to ensure the integration of hardware, software and chemistry.
Develop and document test procedures to assess the acceptability of optical, mechanical and fluidic subsystems during routine manufacturing.
Develop and document a fi nal test procedures for an innovative DNA Sequencer and other products .
W ork closely with the design engineering group, scientists, and quality assurance to define specifications .
Investigate manufacturing and field problems and identify r oot cause . R ecommend and implement product/process im provement s based on these investigations .
Maintain and improve an instrument reliability program .
Dev elop and communicate metrics for reliability (MTBF & MTTR), QC data, field quality and assembly quality in a manner that will drive product improvement.
Participate in customer complaint investigations and review other customer feedback for opportunities for improvement.



Qualifications

A BS in engineering or physics with at leas t 8-10 years experience in systems integration of instrumentation with software, fluidics, optics and precision motion.



Individual Characteristics :

Analytical, with a strong ability to solve problems.
Able to balance the needs of external and internal clients when resolving issues.
Comfortable in a fast paced environment with changing priorities and multiple simultaneous tasks to address.
