Description:The Web Developer works collaboratively with Web team members, Editorial Technology Editors, and other personnel to plan, protype, develop, manage, and test web based product that support and extend our curriculum products. The Web Developer is an integral team member, concurrently on several teams, in all phases of Web sites and Web applications. This position should understand the issues related to content delivery in multiple media, including online and CD. Job responsibilities for the Web Developer include work related to development as well as research and consulting. Working with Web Team members, keep overall web site coding up to date to ensure optimal performance, stability, and production efficiency Partnering with product teams, develop ?one-off? custom products Support company wide web site development by developing initial versions of ?production? products, including process and procedure documentation. Build and maintain online and CD system ?checkers?, used by a number of products. Determine and document installation procedures and routines for technology products. Determine, document and maintain technical standards for rich media products and development. Function as technical lead in the planning and development online products, with particular emphasis on new and innovative products. Assist teams in finding innovative online solutions and intelligent risk-taking, while finding solutions to business problems. Investigate and recommend appropriate development tools and approaches. Investigate and recommend appropriate development vendors. Assist teams in preparing and evaluating vendor bids and in selecting vendors. Prepare and/or review functional specs, assist in developing navigation and user interface design, test online products for functionality on multiple platforms, and interface with teams, vendors and product developers as needed. Maintain and share up-to-date knowledge of resources, opportunities, and appropriate technical approaches within and outside the family of companies. Maintain and share up-to-date industry technical knowledge, including competitor?s products and strategies to contribute to the positioning of individual products and the product line in the marketplace to achieve short term and long term competitive advantage. Required Experience: College degree in computer science or equivalent experience developing online materials. 3+ years experience developing web content rich applications; graphic design and/or user interface experience a plus; educational or instructional material experience helpful. High level of expertise with Cold Fusion MX and MX 7 development languages, including Fusebox methodology. Database experience with SQL/Oracle 10g. Experience in CSS and JavaScript.
